All things considered Tony is doing a great job with AEW. Being a wrestling fan means he wants to put on the best show(s) out there and a lot of wrestlers who never would have seen the light of day in WWE have flourished in AEW. He's also created new stars too, something WWE haven't been able to do outside of a handful since the Attitude Era.

Does AEW have room for improvement - sure but so does WWE, Impact, NWA etc. AEW needs to focus on what the end game is, do they want to be the #1 or are they content on being the strong #2 alternative.

WWE has been going since 1953 so they've got a ton of years head start on AEW and had Vince got locked up during the Steroid trials and/or WCW put them out of business then who knows the landscape of the wrestling industry today. It might just be like how before Vince Jr took the WWF national and be a small niche of fans keeping it going. Now although ratings are down the multi million dollar TV deals indicate when you think about it WWE are even more profitable than the Rock n Wrestling and Attitude Eras.

If AEW can tap into their success and grow the wrestling audience bigger and manage to maintain that fan base it would be a success regardless. I think TNT would have been content with 500,000 viewers and they hit over one million with their first show. Ideally they would have wanted that audience is keep growing but if they are bringing in the right demographics and I believe WB/Discovery get the revenue from ad sales. If they grow the audience to a level where the next TV deal is very profitable then that will intice the more established WWE names to potentially jump ship.

But however good The Bloodline angle is that hasn't really been impactful to the ratings for WWE. Stopping PPV as a revenue stream was a huge mistake when you think about it.

Even WrestleMania alone was an enticement for a lot of fans to buy the event and now NBCU own the streaming rights for Peacock how much revenue are WWE seeing now where they could have been gaining much more through traditional pay per view. They should have had a model similar to UFC and ESPN+. For network subscribers having the PPVs on a months delay would have still been an enticement considered the Blu-Ray/DVD price.

So when you think about it AEW have made the right moves on the financial side. You could argue well they over paid on contracts etc but down the line WB-Discovery will want the likes of Mox, Danielson etc on board to get viewers interested in the show.

I think the development of the video game has put AEW to some degree a financial misstep if it tanks. Best way would be put it on Game Pass and/or Epic Games so there's a potential to introduce AEW to a non fan audience who then might turn into fans who'll watch the shows, but merch etc. Give purchasers of the game a bonus like exclusive DLC etc.

AEW really need to focus on growth and so far there hasn't really been a big sustainable change. If they manage to bring back Punk (unlikely but who knows) the Elite v Punk and friends writes itself and could really be a game changer. What AEW shouldn't do is be content with how things are and stagnate. Their goal is to do all they can to make AEW bigger and better. It's still very early days and the roster is strong and talented enough to get there.

They have unique characters too - Danhausen, Orange, Jade, Swerve, MJF, The Acclaimed, Darby to name just a few who could easily crossover into the mainstream. They just need the opportunities and the right place(s) to be showcased. Only Swerve is ex NXT too which is testament to the fact AEW have created new stars. For a company four years in coming up to January 2023 that's a big achievement.

Yeah. He's talked about Jericho, Omega, QT Marshall and Sonjay Dutt having input but not really clear where. Although obviously Jericho is writing all of the JAS segments.

Samoa Joe and Darby Allin had one of the most brutal matches I've seen in a while. It reminded me of that Cactus Jack vs Paul Orndorff match from 1992 where it felt like Mick Foley asked Orndorff "Please kill me tonight" and Paul said "Okay." Darby's back must be destroyed. It was a 5 star match in the "brutal ass beatings" category.

I would have liked to see Joe ride the skateboard around the ring before the Musclebuster.
