You'd think that it would be coming to Europe as well. Fingers crossed. 🤞

So while technically the US is getting the Mini 2, Sega has made the odd decision to only sell it via order from Amazon Japan through a store page on Amazon US. And it’s $125.79 after $22 shipping.

More SEGA Mega Drive Mini 2 games announced, including both Lunar SEGA CD games

Another live stream has taken place in which more SEGA Mega Drive Mini 2 games have been revealed! In addition to the games announced, we got our first look at both the SEGA Genesis Mini 2 and Mega Drive Mini 2 side by side with their packaging. So what games did SEGA reveal?
  • Alien Soldier
  • Final Fight CD (MEGA CD)
  • Super Street Fighter II
  • Garoudensetsu 2
  • Aa Harimanada
  • Katayama Masayuki no Mahjong Dojo
  • Lunar: The Silver Star (MEGA CD)
  • Lunar: Eternal Blue (MEGA CD)
  • Wondermega Collection: Game Garden (MEGA CD)
  • Spatter aka Sanrin San-Chan
Aside from Alien Soldier, which had been previously announced outside of this series of reveals, none of the new titles are the ones we saw revealed on Wednesday for the SEGA Genesis Mini 2. It is possible both Lunar games see release on the American model, as they had english translations, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. Game Garden is a compilation of four games from Wondermega Collection, a sample disc bundled with Wondermega consoles. The games are: Paddle Fighter, Flicky, Pyramid Magic and Quiz Scramble. Spatter aka Sanrin San-Chan appears to be a new Mega Drive version of the System 1 arcade game, proof that SEGA and M2 are not done revealing new surprises.

The next set of reveals is planned for August 11th.

I smell disaster with that Genesis 2 Mini lineup and the distinct possibility of no JP soundtrack in Sonic CD.

It's weird that it was never released back in the day, especially with how popular the 8-bit & 16-bit computer versions of Rainbow Islands were in the UK and Europe.

Weird, as I think the majority of the game is in English? So it wouldn't have been difficult to release over here. Although there was an SMS version :dontknow"

I remember reading somewhere that they tried to license some of the Vic Tokai games for the OG MD Mini, Battlemania 2 and Time Dominator. Will be interesting to see if they pop up on the Japanese MD Mini 2...

It's a hard decision, do I spend another $99 USD on a mini system I'll never use?

Makes sense I suppose, with the rights for the Working Designs translations locked away in a bankruptcy vault somewhere.

The other small nitpick I have is that the 32X never gets any representation. Sure, it was a doomed project from the start and everyone hated it. But the Virtua Racing 32X soundtrack was killer! And what about Knuckles' Chaotix, don't today's youth deserve to be disappointed too?

I would also love to see some love for the magic musroom, sure Sega US was pissing into the wind making it when SoJ was doing the Saturn but it had good stuff that I enjoyed such as Doom, Star Wars Arcade (the Shroom was the only home system to ever get a port of that one), Metal Head, hell even the version of Virtua Fighter on it was good fun (though quickly surpassed)
