It got a little windy last night:

That's about a quarter mile (0.5 KM) from our apartment. We got some pants on right before it was really bad at about 11:45 p.m., but it didn't look too bad outside our windows so I went to bed at midnight. Had no idea the winds were that bad :olol:

I had to go to the hospital for a check up today. Great day for it, 40C (104°F) and it's still spring. It was also very windy, and the wind was hot.

I'm surrounded by fire to both the north and south of me. Not TOO close, but I can smell and see the smoke.

It doesn't help it's been 3 days of 40°+ (104F) and now there are thunder storms tonight. Still not much rain, but lightning is fucking causing havoc.

on the subject of the fires, and the media bandwagon:
How many Aircraft does it take to put out a bushfire? 4. 1 skycrane to help put the fire out, and 3 news choppers getting exclusive footage.
3 Suburbs next to mine were on fire the other day.
I don't mean 3 suburbs away, but the next suburb over, and the next 2 closest after that were on fire.
No panic here. Black Saturday (2009 for our interstate/international friends) was pants shittingly scary no matter where in the whole state you were...
This one was a bit EH.. They could predict it, and fight this one that happened near me.

Don't believe all the reports of RED ARMAGEDDON SHITSTORM worst bush fires EVAH!! OMFG!!!11!!!!!!!!111!!! CAUSED BY CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE GAYS!!!!!!!11!!!!!!11!!1
In terms of loss of life, which is the real cost, Our current fires are actually really, REALLY fucking tame.

Talk to survivors and families of the dead of Black Friday, Ash Wednesday 2, Black Saturday. And then tell me these bushfires are the worst evah!!!
The media and PC Facebook Karen Brigade are using the relatively small amount of victims of the fires to push agendas which is just distasteful in my book.

I LOOOVE that they say climate change is the cause of the fires...
I would argue that if climate change had happened sooner, the ice would have melted and the titanic wouldn’t have sank... saving hundreds more!

I’m not denying climate change at all, Climates change all the time, and we have to adapt or go extinct, but to say humans can have any influence on it is nothing less than absolutely retarded.
If we didn’t all have the computers, phones, and cars that contribute to the man made drop in the ocean climate shift, hundreds or thousands would be dead already.

And I really do laugh my ass off when I see people wearing those dust masks to stop smoke/germs etc... Maybe they are a placebo effect?
It's like when you're smoking in an undercover car park and someone walks past and coughs like the smoke is harming them.
The exhausts from all the cars was FINE, but a single cigarette is making a passerby cough.
your shirt over your mouth is just as effective as a dust mask for smoke. which isn't effective at all. (A wet towel actually does help with smoke though if you don't have access to a proper gas/smokemask)

And if your local fire station has volunteers, take them a nice gift at some point. (if they're anything like MY CFA, they'll especially love a slab of cold beer towards the end of summer)

I'm not anywhere near the fires and I don't think any of the other Australians here are either, so we should be fine.

Some weren't too far from me. It was probably as bad as your pics, if not worse for me. But not bad, as such.

This summer has been absolutely fucked. Fires aside, it was 40C+ on Friday, it's 19 and raining today. Currently 14C.

I was near one, but it was a nature reserve that was on fire, not a national park.
And it made news because there is all new housing estates surrounding it.
News all reported Red Armageddon Shit Storm!
Wasn’t even that smoky...

I see some things saying the air quality is like smoking 37 cigarettes a day. Talk shit.
They should try smoking 37 Marlboro reds in a day and see which is worse lol.

It has been odd ups and downs this summer so far though... I haven’t noticed 10 days at 40 then 8 days of 20 and rain like in the past.
It’s been 3 days hot, 3 days normal, 3 days cold, 2 days REALLY HOT, 3 days normal, 1 day really cold, 3 days hot.
