I was talking to a co-worker about this, and we agreed that it looks awesome. But I just don't have the patience to play something like that :olol: Hope it's a good one for all the Tacticheads out there.

'90s anime-inspired RPG Wander Stars announced for Switch and PC

Publisher Paper Castle has announced Wander Stars, a turn-based RPG that doesn't just draw inspiration from 1990s anime like so many games have done — it practically breathes the aesthetic, right on down to delightfully cheesy attack names.

If the game's announcement trailer doesn't have your fists pumped for some Shōnen showdowns, perhaps Paper Castle's plot and gameplay overviews will do the trick.

About
Wander Stars is a turn-based RPG with roguelite elements where you make your own attacks by combining words to make your own fighting techniques. Learn new words to collect, combine, and experiment to discover enemy weaknesses, synergies, and strategies that will help you win your battles!
The story of Wander Stars follows Ringo, a young martial artist looking for her brother, and Wolfe, a mysterious scoundrel running from his past, as they join forces in an unlikely partnership to collect the pieces of the Wanderstar Map.

Key Features
  • Make Your Own Attacks – Collect and combine different types of words to make your own fighting techniques like a SUPER AWESOME FIRE KICK!
  • An Anime You Can Play – Each run plays like an anime episode where you experience the adventure through exciting cutscenes and intense battles.
  • Wander into Adventure – Explore every place you visit through a randomized map and find treasures, rivals, special events and more!
  • Binge and Reruns – Replay episodes to learn hidden aspects of the story, find any events you missed, and train to earn permanent upgrades.
Until today, I thought for sure I've played plenty of anime. What is Tales of Arise, if not anime given interactive form? Clearly, I underestimated what it takes to deliver the complete hero-shouting experience.

Should you wield the courage to turn Wander Stars from a developer's dream into a full-blown reality, be sure to keep your watchful eye on the game's pending Kickstarter campaign.

Chrono Cross is getting a remaster for Switch, PC, PS4 and Xbox OneFor several months now we’ve been hearing rumours about a Chrono Cross remaster.

The game was initially expected to be announced at The Game Awards in December but ultimately ended up being a no-show. Now just a couple of months later, the game has been made official, with Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition being announced for Switch, PC, PlayStation and Xbox.

Chrono Cross released back in the 90s and is regarded as a JRPG classic. The story follows Serge, a teenager journeying through the archipelago of El Nido, searching for answers about its world.

The remastered version will be called Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition and will come with new art from character designer Nobuteru Yuuki and a remastered OST from Yasunori Mitsuda, the composer behind the game’s original music. In addition, it will include the text-based adventure game released for Satellaview in 1996 named “Radical Dreamers – Le Trésor Interdit”, which works as a prequel to the main game.

Like most remasters, players will have more languages available, improved models, and the option to play with older or updated graphics. Other additions include the ability to switch enemy encounters on or off, background filter, battle enhancement features, auto-battle, and the choice between pixel or HD fonts.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition will be available on April 7th for Switch, Steam, PS4 and Xbox One. To commemorate its launch, Square Enix is also offering fans the chance to get the Chrono Cross -Scars of Time music box, available for €17.99 at the Square Enix Online Store.

Aksys Games to release dungeon RPG Mon-Yu for Nintendo Switch and PC in Early 2023

Aksys has announced during its All Aksys 2022 stream that dungeon crawler RPG Mon-Yu will launch in the West in Early 2023 for Nintendo Switch and PC.

Developed by Experience (Undernauts Labyrinth of Yomi, Stranger of Sword City, Demon Gaze) Mon-Yu is a DRPG which released last Summer in Japan. The game features character designs by Mota and monster designs by Akifumi Yamamoto, who both worked on 2009 Japanese-only DS RPG 7th Dragon.

Like traditional DRPGs, the party is player-created from a set of classes. According to details shared in a live stream around the Japanese launch, Mon-Yu is separated into floors, with each having a boss creature to defeat. In order to defeat them, strategy and skill is emphasized over levels and grinding.

The game's final English title is still to-be-determined, but its Japanese title is Monster wo Taoshite Tsuyoi Ken ya Yoroi wo Te ni Shinasai. Yuusha Tai ga Maou wo Taosu Sono Hi wo Shinjiteimasu, which literally translates to Defeat Monsters to Get Strong Swords and Armor. We Believe in the Day the Heroes will Defeat the Demon Lord, according to Gematsu.

We've included a Japanese version gameplay trailer below, alongside Aksys' description.

A first-person, turn-based dungeon crawler from Experience Inc. in the tradition of the original Wizardry. Create your own characters to defeat the seven demon kings. Form your team, clear the dungeons, defeat the monsters, and claim victory.
