I legit forgot how fun GTA 4 could be until I setup my own dedicated GTA 4 server for PC and was just driving around fucking about. I remember hating the driving once I played GTA 5, but it's actually fun. If anyone wants to play it online on PC again I highly recommend GTA Connected. It works with 3, Vice City, San Andreas, and 4.

I've been playing GTA4 on PC. It's hard to believe it still runs so poorly 14 years later. All it would take is a little patch to fix it.

Anyhoo, I've got it running pretty well using DXVK and turning off pre-caching. You have to drive around for a bit to let it cache everything but after that, no more stuttering.

Weird, I was playing it recently and thought it held up pretty well, wasn't having any issues like that but I think I did play with a couple in game settings first.

I also setup my own dedicated GTA4 server now that you can't play it online anymore. It was surprisingly easy to do, I just had no one to test with. Just some rando guy who joined and I chased him in my helicopter for a bit

I played it years ago on my laptop and it ran fine. Maybe it's just certain hardware combos it doesn't like.
