Mariah's All I Want For Christmas finally gets to number 1 in the US.

https://www.billboard.com/articles/busi ... number-one

Looks like the US has caught the UK's Xmas song tradition, lots of them are in the top 40. Wham are at 26.

https://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100

Dance Monkey is up to 9.

Juice WRLD gets a post death bump up to 8.

Here's the Oz chart from the same year:

Image

This song made it's debut at number 72 in that week's top 100:

The rich kid, becomes a junkie
The poor kid, an advertiser
What a tragic waste of potential
Being a junkie's not so good, either

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg!_The_Stop_Sign!!

The song is based on a series of speeding advertisements released by the TAC (Victorian road and safety authorities), who are even mentioned in the song. One TAC advertisement in particular that was in heavy rotation on Australian television in the early 1990s featured young people driving in a car on a country road. The atmosphere in the car is jovial; the driver is speeding, though on a country road he doesn't seem to mind and the passengers are not wearing seatbelts. The young driver is momentarily distracted as the car travels into an intersection at the same time as another car. Moments before the accident, the female passenger yells out "Darren!" but it is too late to avoid the accident

That's true. Which is probably why Greg! The Stop Sign! peaked at #59 and Scatman got to #8 on the Australian charts.

None of those songs are even memorable besides Wet Ass Pussy. But it was an awful summer anyway so it doesn't matter I guess.

Dreams is also at 39 on the ARIA Charts and 16 on the Australian iTunes charts. It's also doing well on the US and Australian Spotify charts.

And in other news, Dance Monkey is still in the Australian top 30.

1995 was probably the last big year for rock music. 1996\97 were all about one hit wonders coming and going and by 1998 nu metal was the only subgenre selling albums. And by 2000 it was just about Creed which ushered in some dark times.

Agreed, even the goofy melodramatic stuff from Live and Goo Goo Dolls was pretty good. I checked out with nu metal, save for some Korn, Godsmack, and Sevendust. I listened to more AOR, prog rock and oldies than I ever did Limp Bizkit.
