Flickering screen/display adapter crash

Post by Big Boss Man »

I was trying to watch a video yesterday but the PC monitor screen starting flashing then went to a black screen. After a minute or so a box popped up saying that the display adapter crashed and it loaded a generic driver. It has happened a few times in the past, usually when trying to a watch a video, so is there anyway to fix it and any possible cause?. I am going to update the graphics driver and see if it fixes it.

Is it a separate card or an onboard one?

Googling that just brings up generic answers (uninstall and reinstall the graphics driver/install new codecs/upgrade VLC/do a Windows update etc.) up because it seems to be a common problem.
